Monday, April 25th:

2nd Period: Continue working on questions and answers for Hot Seat!
4th Period: Start working on essay for The Bluest Eye.
Both 2nd and 4th Period: CST prep questions!



Tuesday, April 26th:

2nd Period: Begin “Hot Seat!”
4th Period: Continue working on essay for The Bluest Eye.
Both 2nd and 4th Period: Unit 9 Vocabulary due!
Both 2nd and 4th Period: CST prep questions!



Wednesday, April 27th:

2nd Period: Finish up “Hot Seat!”
4th Period: Your essay and your reading log for The Bluest Eye are due.
Both 2nd and 4th Period: Warriner’s Grammar; pages 70 - 71; exercise 11 will be
due on Friday, April 29th.


Thursday, April 28th:

2nd Period: Begin work on your The Bluest Eye essay.
For both 2nd and 4th Period: Unit 9 Vocabulary test;
4th Period: Read “Young Goodman Brown”.



Friday, April 29th:

2nd Period: Continue working on The Bluest Eye essay; due Monday.
4th Period: Continue reading “Young Goodman Brown”

APRIL 18th Weekly Schedule
for Contemporary Composition


Monday, April 18th:

2nd Period: Read THE BLUEST EYE and of course, do your reading logs.

4th Period: Get into groups of three and compose 10 questions and answers for the following characters in THE BLUEST EYE: Pecola, Claudia, Margaret Poole, Cholly, Mrs. Breedlove, Junior, Soaphead Church. We are going to do HOT SEAT!

Tuesday, April 19th:

Your grammar homework is due today, ENGLISH WORKSHOP; adverbial and adjective phrases.

2nd Period: Continue reading THE BLUEST EYE and of course, do your reading logs.

4th Period: Continue working in groups composing your ten questions and questions.

Wednesday, April 20th:

Please bring your vocabulary book to class today. Unit 9 will be assigned and it will be due on Tuesday, April 26th.

2nd Period: Finish reading THE BLUEST EYE.

4th Period: Begin HOT SEAT today. Don't worry! I won't leave you hanging. I'll show you how to do this.


Thursday, April 21st:


I will not be here today. I am going on a field trip with my senior AP class. So today I would like for you to read “Young Goodman Brown” by Nathaniel Hawthorne, and answer the questions.


Friday, April 22nd:


I’m back! So, 2nd Period: Get to work on composing ten questions and answers for the following characters in THE BLUEST EYE: Pecola, Claudia, Margaret Poole, Mrs. Breedlove, Cholly, Junior, Soaphead Church.

4th Period: Go over essay format for your upcoming essay on THE BLUEST EYE.

Monday, April 11th:

Your unit 8 vocabulary will be due today. We will go over this fun assignment in class.

We'll also read THE BLUEST EYE - something you do like to do! Don’t forget your reading log.


Tuesday, April 12th:

Shortened day and earthquake drill!

We will probably just read today.


Wednesday, April 13th:

Your Unit 8 Vocabulary test will be given today. Please don’t be absent. There are FAR too many absences - particularly on test days!

Continue reading THE BLUEST EYE and of course, working on your reading log!


Thursday, April 14th:

Please bring your grammar book, WARRINER’S ENGLISH GRAMMAR. We will go over prepositional phrases and the following pages will be assigned. By the end of this semester, you will definitely know what a preposition is: pages 58 - 63, “Prepositional Phrases”, “Adjective Phrases”, “Adverbial Phrases” , exercises 1 and 2. This will be due on Tuesday, April 19th.

Read THE BLUEST EYE. Continue working on reading log.


Friday, April 15th:

Read THE BLUEST EYE. As soon as we finish the book a fun essay will be assigned. And of course, your reading log will be due. Your collage on THE BLUEST EYE is still welcomed!

Monday, April 4th:

Let’s read THE BLUEST EYE! Do not forget your reading log!

For much needed extra credit, do a collage on THE BLUEST EYE. This will be due on Wednesday, April 6th.

I will pass out a handout on “The Sentence Base” from WARRINER’S ENGLISH AND GRAMMAR which we will go over in class. This will be due on Wednesday, April 6th.


Tuesday, April 5th:

Shortened day!

Please bring your vocabulary book. We will briefly go over Unit 8 which will be due on Monday, April 11th.

We will quickly go over the "participles handout" which was given to you last week.
