Monday, March 16th:


Grammar warm-ups: sentence fragments, adverbial clauses, etc. Rewrites of sentence fragments on the white board.

Class divided into 2 groups to correct and rewrite a short paragraph while 2 representatives from their groups correct and rewrite the short paragraph on the white board.

Read THE GREAT GATSBY, chapter 4; up to page 37

Period 2: Grammar Warm-ups: Error Corrections for Sentence Fragments
"What Makes a Complete Sentence?" Brief Review
Same game as 1st period.

Read pages 39 - from THE BLUEST EYE

Tuesday, March 17th:


Grammar Warm-ups: Students pair up and work on correcting a paragraph with major grammatical problems - sentence fragments, etc. Class as a whole correct the paragraph.

Introduction of the "In-Class Reading Scaffold"  to be used during class reading time:
